Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi

Prof.  Kaimenyi  was  born  in  1952.  He  holds  a  PHD  in  Dentistry  from  the  University  of  Nairobi.  He  was  previously  a  Deputy  Vice-Chancellor  in  charge  of  Academic  Affairs  at  the  University  of  Nairobi  and  a  Member  of  the  Medical  Practitioners  and  Dentists  board.  He  was  also  a  trustee  of  Regina  Pacis  University  College;  A  constituent  College  of  the  CATHOLIC  UNIVERSITY  OF  EASTERN  AFRICA.  He  is  currently  the  Cabinet  Secretary,  Ministry  of  Lands  and  Physical  Planning

Education Cabinet Secretary for Kenya Jacob Kaimenyi vows to ensure quality amid nagging setbacks

Prof Jacob Thuranira Kaimenyi, the Education, Science and Technology Cabinet Secretary is a man on the spot, with multiple crises brewing in his ministry.

When he was appointed to the position, expectations were high that as some one with a professional background in education management, order would find way in the dockect known more for fire-fighting teachers’ strikes.

At the University of Nairobi where he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) and as a Professor of Periodontology before his appointment, Kaimenyi was viewed as an individual with passion to promote learning.

He has a recognised track record of scholarship at local and international levels.

He is a committed Catholic who, at the university, worked under pressure and would meet strict deadlines.

Kaimenyi had promised the ministry would ensure Kenyans get quality education.
