Environmental Policy Expert
Judith founded Beyond Plastics in 2019 to end plastic pollution through education, advocacy, and institutional change.
Passionate about protecting public health and the environment, she teaches classes on plastic pollution as a Senior Fellow and visiting faculty member at Bennington College, and was recently a Visiting Scholar at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University.
Judith has held top influential positions in state and federal government. Appointed by President Obama, she served as the Regional Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, overseeing environmental protections in NY, NJ, eight Indian Nations, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands – in addition to managing a staff of 800 and a $700M budget.

Biography
Enck has a long and distinguished career in government and in the non profit community on a range of environmental protection issues. She was appointed by President Obama to serve as Regional Administrator at the US Environmental Protection Agency and served as Deputy Secretary for the Environment in the New York Governor's Office. She is the founder and President of Beyond Plastics, a national project with the goal of eliminating plastic pollution everywhere. Enck is a regular panelist on the public affairs show, The Roundtable, on WAMC, a local NPR affiliate. She has been a visiting faculty member at Bennington since Fall 2018 and became a senior fellow in the Center for the Advancement of Public Action in Spring 2019. Enck currently serves as Preside

ABOUT
Launched in January 2019, Beyond Plastics is a nationwide project based at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont, that pairs the wisdom and experience of environmental policy experts with the energy and creativity of grassroots advocates to build a vibrant and effective movement to end plastic pollution. We use our deep policy and advocacy expertise to build a well-informed, effective movement seeking to achieve the institutional, economic, and societal changes needed to save our planet, and ourselves, from the negative health, climate, and environmental impacts of the production, usage, and disposal of plastics.
GOALS
It will take changes at every level of our economy and civil life to stem the tide of plastic pollution. Individuals need to be moved to act in their personal lives and take action as part of a growing movement; corporations need to feel the pressure to initiate changes in their purchasing and packaging habits; governments need to impose bans and adopt laws that require extended produ
