In the spirit of presenting historical truth, through art, Don Troiani helped establish the Society of American Historical Artists (SAHA) in 1980 and personally set uncompromising standards of excellence and authenticity in his field that few others can equal. Biography and Credentials
For a over 45 years Don Troiani has methodically built one of the great private artifact collections of Civil War, 1812, Revolutionary War, World War II uniforms, equipage, insignia and weapons which he calls on to add the unique dimension of realism his artwork is so well known for.
Hollywood has enlisted him as consultant on "Civil War Uniforms and Equipage" for the acclaimed feature film "Cold Mountain" starring Nicole Kidman, Renée Zellweger and Jude Law for which he received screen credit. Also in "Cold Mountain, The Journey from book to film." Troiani has also been military advisor (and made appearances) on A&E, The Military Channel, History Channel's "Civil War Journal" and the miniseries "The American Revolution". Televison appearances on "Missing Reward", "Incurable Collector", and "Hunt for Amazing Treasures" are among his credits.

Don Troiani (born 1949) is an American painter whose work focuses on his native country's military heritage, mostly from the American Revolution, War of 1812 and American Civil War. His highly realistic and historically accurate oil and watercolor works are most well known in the form of marketed mass-producedprinted limited-edition reproductions, illustrated books, book compilations, museum and government collections. He is also a militaria collector.
Biography
Troiani was born in New York City and studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and New York City's Art Students League between 1967 and 1971.
Artistic style and historical accuracy
Don Troiani's paintings are realistic and academic in style, mostly oil on canvas or Gouache on paper. He uses posed models with clothing and equipment from his collection of original uniforms, equipage, insignia and weapons.
