Born on July 16, 1990, the singer hails from Lagos State and is from a family of six. He is the last child and also the only son.
He started singing at the age of eleven under the stage name Lil Prinz. He also formed a group at 11 called Glorious Five. The group later released a 7-track album that was released in the church.
His first album was with the Glorious 5 and it sold 10,000 copies.
He had his first ever recording with OJB Jezreel at 11.
At the age of 15, he was song writing and receiving guidance from Naeto C.
In 2006, he changed his name from the moniker Lil Prinz to Wiz

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), popularly known as Wizkid,[6] is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.[7] Born in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid is a voice in the emerging Afrobeats movement.[8] His music is a blend of Afrobeats,[9]afropop,[10]R&B,[11]afrobeat,[12]reggae,[12]dancehall,[12] and pop.[12] He began recording music at the age of 11 and released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. In 2009, Wizkid signed a record deal with Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to the limelight after releasing "Holla at Your Boy", the lead single from his debut studio album, Superstar (2011), which also spawned the singles "Tease Me/Bad Guys" and "Don't Dull".

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun whose stage name is Wizkid is one of the fastest rising Nigerian music artists and probably one of the youngest too. He was recently named one of the richest African musicians by Forbes.
Biography
Wizkid was born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun on July 16, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria. There has been a little controversy about his date of birth, some sources have claimed he was born on July 16, 1989.
He was born into a polygamous family – his father had three wives. His mother is a Christian and his father a Muslim. Wizkid who followed his mother to the church began singing in his local church at the tender age of 11 years. He was not only a good vocalist but also a lead singer.
Before his big break came in 2009, Wizkid released a couple of albums. As part of the church choir, he produced an album. He later went on to form a singing group with five of his church friends, the group was known as “Glorious Five”
