Description

« There is fire under Jonathan Fournel's fingers, but the fire of a craftsman who shapes glass, a master glassmaker of Mozartian arabesques.» (Musiq’3)

First Prize winner of the 2021 Queen Elisabeth Competition at the age of 27, Jonathan Fournel is a worthy heir of the great French piano tradition, including Brigitte Engerer, Claire Désert and Michel Dalberto. For his debut in Liège, he has devised an eclectic programme featuring Brahms, to whom he dedicated his first recording, as well as masters of counterpoint and form such as Bach, Chopin and Szymanowski, through whom he showcases his love of colour and his art of telling stories in minute detail.
