Auke Tellegen is Professor Emeritus, Department of Psychology, University of Minnesota. He was a Professor in the department from 1968 to 1999. He received a PhD in personality psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1962 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical psychology at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1963. In the Netherlands, he earned a Bachelor of Law at the Free University in Amsterdam in 1949 and a Doctorandus Psychology in 1957 at the University of Amsterdam.
Dr. Tellegen’s fields of specialization are personality psychology, psychological measurement, hypnosis, and behavior genetics. He is co-author of the MMPI-2-RF, MMPI-2, MMPI-A, and MMPI-A-RF tests, and author of the MMPI-2 Restructured Clinical (RC) Scales. He is also the author of the Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire (MPQ), a broadband test of normal personality. He is an associate editor of the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and the American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, and consulting editor of Assessment, Psychological Assessment psychology professor Auke Tellegen, Indonesian psychology professor. Auke was born July 16th, 1930, in Indonesia, known at the time as Batavia, Dutch East Indies. Auke was the loving husband of Lysbeth Tellegen who passed away in 2011. Auke is survived by his son and daughter, Peter Tellegen (Margaret) and Gwen Tellegen (Chris), his granddaughters Laura Bankston Kelleher (Brian), Amy Tellegen Geise (Will), Helen Tellegen (Steven), and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lysbeth Tellegen, and his grandsons Nic Tellegen Burcham and Tom Bankston. Auke had many close friends with whom he kept in contact, including his long-time dear friend Beverly Kaemmer, with whom he shared a home. Auke earned his Doctorandus of Psychology degree at the University of Amsterdam in 1957 and a PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1962.
