Miles Teller was one of those rare overnight successes who did not have years of toil before his breakthrough: he co-starred opposite Nicole Kidman in his big screen debut and garnered rave reviews for one of his earliest roles, as an emotionally troubled teen in the romantic drama "The Spectacular Now" (2013). A native of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Miles Teller spent high school pursuing his music, playing drums in a band he started in his church youth group. After stumbling into drama his junior year in college, Miles went to NYU where he earned a BA from the Tisch School of the Arts. Miles Teller (born February 20, 1987)[1] is an American actor. He made his feature film debut with the independent drama Rabbit Hole (2010), and gained wider recognition for his roles in the coming-of-age film The Spectacular Now (2013) and the Divergent film trilogy (2014–2016). His breakthrough role came in the drama Whiplash (2014) which earned him critical acclaim.

Teller went on to star in the superhero film Fantastic Four (2015) and the biographical film War Dogs (2016). Miles was born in the Philadelphia suburb of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. His mother, Merry, is a real estate agent, and his father, Michael, is a nuclear power plant engineer. He has two older sisters, Erin and Dana. His paternal grandfather was of Russian-Jewish descent, and his ancestry also includes English and Irish. He lived in Pennsylvania and Delaware before his family moved to Citrus County, Florida, when Teller was twelve. While attending Lecanto High School, he played the alto saxophone in a rock band, was a drummer for a church youth group band, and was president of the drama club. He also played piano and guitar, and was on the baseball team, hoping to turn professional. Teller worked as a server at a restaurant called Crackers. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, and studied method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film
