Marc Luet

Marc Luet is CEO of Citi Australia and Head of Citi’s Australia and New Zealand cluster. In this role, Marc is responsible for Citi’s businesses in Australia and New Zealand. This includes developing and implementing the business strategy, fostering successful client relationships at all levels of the organisation, managing risk and controls, and protecting and enhancing Citi’s reputation in Australia and New Zealand.

Marc was previously Citi’s Cluster Head for Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of AO Citibank Russia, Citibank Turkey and was a member of the Board of Citi Handlowy in Poland.

Marc first joined Citi in 1991, and spent more than 10 years in Marketing, Risk and Operations in Europe and North America, before serving as Consumer Business Manager for Hungary and Belgium. Despite having lived and worked in over 10 countries, new Citi Japan CEO Marc Luet had never set foot in Japan before his transfer in 2023, not even as a tourist.

“I already had an image about Japan,” the French executive said of his initial impressions. “There was the traditional Japan, the funky Japan, the sophisticated Japan. However, I was also expecting to find Tokyo somewhat constricting, but actually the day-to-day living here is quite easy. There is such a village feel — every area is like a mini-village of some sort. Of all the developed markets, Japan is where the things in everyday life are just different. Mark Woodruff appointed as Citi Australia CEO

Citi today announced the appointment of Mark Woodruff as Citi Australia CEO and Head of Citi's Australia and New Zealand Cluster, subject to local regulatory approval.

Mark will report to Tim Monger, Head of the North East Asia Cluster for Citi. Mark Woodruff succeeds Marc Luet, who was recently appointed CEO for Citi in Japan.

In this role, Mark will be responsible for driving Citi's strategy in Australia and New Zealand. This includes serving as a trusted partner to Citi's clients, maintaining a strong risk and control environment and fostering a high-performing, inclusive and supportive culture for the franchise.

Since January, Mark has been acting as the interim CEO and Cluster Head. Mark is a Citi veteran with 20 years of experience at the firm, joining in New York in 2002.

He has held senior leadership positions including Head of Investor Sales and most recently Head of Markets for Australia and New Zealand. Citi will soon commence the recruitment process to replace the Head of Markets role.
